MacLeod did a morning assembly beginning with Land Acknowledgement and some amazing Indigenous dance videos and a video featuring two of their students who were involved in a nation wide virtual Orff performance and the only students to represent Saskatchewan! It was a wonderful day of learning!

For National Indigenous Peoples Day, Hillcrest School reviewed their work with the Seven Sacred Teachings in a school-wide assembly and engaged in small group breakout activities. The following morning, when the sun was shining, they continued with an outdoor activity where they formed a large circle, released butterflies, and reflected on their learning throughout the year.

Legacy Park is so proud of the Grade 5 and 6 students that joined the extra-curricular Performing Arts Club this spring. The students designed and created the sets and props, even created some of the costumes. They performed the 2 Act Musical Play "Dorothy in Wonderland" with such talent and pride and far exceeded any expectations.

On Thursday June 16th, athletes from across the division gathered at WCS for our first in person FIP track meet since Covid restrictions were in place. We were able to enjoy one another’s company at a BBQ and dance following the track meet. It was a wonderful celebration of all abilities. We are very excited to do it again next year!

Midale students in grade K-5 celebrated Grown-ups Who Love Us Day on May 26. It was a fun filled afternoon with performances, games and snacks.

On June 21st, SECPSD celebrates National Indigenous Peoples Day.

On June 1st, Wawota Parkland School took part in a First Nation, Inuit, and Métis Teachings Day. Our school welcomed Knowledge Keeper Calvin Racette, Land Based Educator Garrick Schmidt, and President of Métis Nation Saskatchewan Local #182 Dexter Mondor to our building to spend the day with our staff and students. Our day began with an opening ceremony which included a welcoming prayer, a traditional smudge, and the raising of the Métis Nation Saskatchewan Tipi. (Click the title to read the full report.)

Assiniboia Park Elementary School musical theatre club put on three amazing performances of “High School Musical Jr.” These 45 students in grades 4-6 came together to put on a show that brought so much joy and music to the school. Congratulations on a great job!
