Accessibility Plan

South East Cornerstone Public School Division is committed to providing environments that are accessible to all staff, students, their families, and the broader community. An environment that is accessible means schools that are free of physical, communications, and attitudinal barriers, where diversity is celebrated and accessibility is the norm.

The accessibility plan is an outline of our proposed actions and our formal commitment to making meaningful and impactful changes by working towards the removal of barriers faced by those who experience disabilities and putting processes in place to prevent similar barriers from occurring in the future.

To best guide out actions, we started by approaching staff, parents, and community members asking them to share their experiences accessing SECPSD facilities, programs, and services. Every story told and piece of feedback received helped shape the building blocks of our plan.

The accessibility plan is exactly that, a three-year plan designed to be the first step in formalizing our efforts and commitment to improving accessibility in our school communities. The plan will guide decision making, budgeting, as well as short and long-term actions to improve accessibility in all our school communities. The plan is evergreen, and will be reviewed as the need arises, or at a minimum of every three years.

Accessibility is about everyone in our community, and for that reason we felt it important to include individuals with different perspectives, experiences, and specialties in the accessibility team working group.
