Are we at a farm? Nope, just another day in Mrs. Hammermeister’s classroom at Alameda School. The K students have been anxiously waiting for the chicks to hatch. Every day students were listening for peeps and looking for pips! With great anticipation the day finally arrived! The students were super excited to watch the chicks hatch and later get to hold them. Just in time for Easter!

Mrs. Brooks’ grades 3 & 4 classroom like to spend time with the seniors from our community at their center called the Merry Makers. The students usually go and visit with them approx. once a month. They enjoy hearing stories of the “old days”, family history, reading, playing games and of course enjoying a snack of home baked cookies. The students heard that they were needing a new furnace for their building, so the class came up with the idea of holding a bake sale. The bake sale was a great success. On Feb. 28th the school held an assembly and presented a cheque for $520.00 to members of the senior center. They were in shock and greatly appreciated the gift.

October 17th is School Bus Driver Appreciation Day! School bus drivers are often the first and last smile that students see at the start and end of each school day, & today we recognize and thank this important part of our school community for their dedication to getting our students safely to and from school each day.
