Saskatchewan Wheelchair Sports Association Visits Hillcrest School

On March 23rd, Hillcrest School was fortunate to have an instructor from the Saskatchewan Wheelchair Sports Association travel from Regina to teach the Grade 1-8 students about adapted sports and inclusion for all. The students had an opportunity to learn about and participate in sledge hockey and seated curling. Eli from the SWSA was amazing at teaching the varying abilities from Grade 1 to Grade 8. The students got to take part in a full 50-minute Physical Education class.  They explored and examined how the sledge hockey equipment works for indoor use and how it would work on real ice. The SWSA has been promoting their sledge hockey clinic for schools to try. Hillcrest had a blast playing with equipment. Hillcrest encourages other people in the community to reach out to learn what is offered and available to help educate the community on adapted sports and inclusion for all.
