There are major changes to Transportation policies at the Division level. Two points to highlight are:
1. Guest Rider: If your child is riding on a bus other than their regular bus (or a town kid going on a rural bus), both the parent of the guest rider, and the parent of the location the child is going, to must contact the school and the bus driver. The school office has to complete paperwork, and the guest rider (student) has to present this paperwork to the bus driver, or they will not be allowed to ride the bus. Please contact the school directly either by phone or email.
2. Extra Passengers: On school days, the only passengers to ride on a scheduled school bus are K-12 students who attend a school in the Division, and who ordinarily ride that bus to reach their school.
• On certain occasions, up to four (4) other students from the same school may ride on a bus:
o If there are sufficient seats on the bus
o If the parent or guardian provides a written request that has been approved by the school and the driver, and
o If the drop-off or pick-up point is a regularly scheduled stop.
• This will affect those of you who have birthday parties’ right after school. The Guest Rider policy must be completed before any extra students are allowed on the bus.
